Roseworth Research

Research.

Roseworth Research publishes studies built only on public data. Bricked-Up Windows is the first series: four papers on London’s food businesses, the company register that is supposed to describe them, and the VAT line that runs through the middle of the trade. Everything is free to read, free to download, and cites its sources.

Why a high-street practice publishes research.

Because the data is public and almost nobody reads it properly. The Companies House register is free, complete and widely quoted as a measure of how the high street is doing — and it does not mean what it is usually taken to mean. Working that out needed no funding and no research staff; it needed a question worth asking and controls tight enough to trust the answer.

Every figure traces to a public source, every correction made before publication is recorded, and the studies are free to read. We act for businesses in the sectors we study and therefore have a commercial interest in them; that declaration belongs at the top rather than the bottom.

If you would like the same method applied to a question of your own, we take commissions.
