18. Transfer of a business as a going concern.

HMRC01/10/2026

When a business or part of a business is sold or transferred as a going concern, the transaction is not treated as a supply for VAT purposes. These rules are compulsory and mean that VAT must not be charged on the transferred assets if all relevant conditions are met. This applies to business owners and office holders involved in the transfer of a business.
